Exim Bank supports Mt. Kilimanjaro tourism drive
EXIM Bank, Tanzania’s sixth largest bank in terms of total deposits and assets has sponsored nine visitors from Global Career Company (GCC) a recruitment consultancy company based in London-UK to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro Africa's highest peak.
The event was meant to support ‘Education Africa Charity’ that works with disadvantaged communities in Africa to address issues of inequality in education and at the same help in raising the visibility for Tanzanian tourism sector.
A statement issued by the Exim Bank Managing Director Anthony Grant yesterday said the bank’s sponsorship will help to promote the visibility of beautiful Kilimanjaro for tourists while simultaneously raising funds for ‘Education Africa’, a charity supported by GCC.
Grant said six of the sponsored visitors, none of whom had any climbing experience, reached the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak, early in the morning yesterday and posed for a photograph with the Exim Bank Tanzania company flag.
“We are glad that the team from Global Careers in London have been able to make it to Uhuru Peak and raise funds for their chosen charity. We congratulate their successful climb and belive they will be good ambassadors for Exim Bank and Tanzania as a whole when they return back home, ” Grant said.
Grant reiteriated his bank’s commitement to support various inititatives that promote the development of tourism in the country. The GCC Director Sarah Roe upon reaching Uhuru Peak, “It was a wonderful experience to climb Mt. Kilimamjaro.The last 48 hours have been the most intense and physically grueling experience of my life.
“Miraculously, we have managed to make it to the top together. We enjoyed the climb and we enjoyed Tanzania.“We are grateful to Exim Bank for the support rendered.” She added.
